Making My Gift Bag from Breakfast Cereal Boxes

With the help of my parents
(i) Mix and match each picture with the correct step.
(ii) After you have correctly matched all the pictures, have fun making your own gift bag using the given materials and instructions
Materials Needed: One empty breakfast cereal box, old sheets of gift wrapping paper, sticky tape (sellotape/scotch tape), paper hole puncher, 2 ribbon strips, scissors
1. Gather the materials listed above..
2. Cut off the top part of the breakfast cereal box.
3. Lay the cereal box on your sheets of paper and cut the paper with enough room at the top and on the side to wrap around the box.
4. Fold the top and side end of the wrapping paper and secure with tape.
5. Use the hole puncher to make 2 holes on the top edge of the front of your box and another 2 holes on the back of the box.
6. Thread the ribbon strips through the holes. Take one ribbon strip and thread it into the left front hole and knot it curely. Repeat for the right front hole. Repeat with the second ribbon strip for the left and right back holes.
7. Your gift bag is now done!

You can promote your childs imagination and creativity by encouraging the reuse of materials such as empty breakfast cereal boxes, pieces of strings and ribbons. Such materials can be used to make attractive functional objects such as gift bags and book marks. By engaging child in such activities, you are helping him/her to look at used objects in new ways to reduce solid waste production and to promote his/her creativity. your In this activity, you can replace the ribbon strips with pieces of thin rope or strings. The gift wrapping paper can be replaced with illustrated sheets from old magazines and newspaper or attractive magazine covers. Other decorative items can also be used to make an attractive gift bag.
