MANDALA DESIGN - “LET’S BE CREATIVE”

(i) I colour the mandala.

Materials:
Cardboard or an area on floor/ground, Scrap papers from packaging items, shells, eggshells, seeds, pebbles, flowers, expired solid food items (eg., pasta, pulses/lentils).
Technique: Assemblage and installation
Steps and procedures:
1. Select an appropriate base (cardboard) or area on the ground/floor for doing your design.
2. Collect pebbles, leaves, shells, seeds, expired solid food items, and any other naturals elements.
3. Arrange each one according to its pattern, shape and colour.
4. Trace out the desired geometric shape.
5. Start adding selected items according to their motifs, shapes and colours to create an interesting geometrical pattern in a playful manner.
6. Decorate your Mandala with flowers and other elements as per your wish.
7. Take photos of your creation.
8. Discuss your creation with your parents.
NOTE to Parents

• Consolidate understanding about the importance of recycling and upcycling and the use of scrap materials in making decorative items.
• Promote the habit of re-using expired solid non-perishable food items, leaves, flowers, egg shells, seeds, pebbles etc.
• Promote a culture of collecting, sorting, cutting and storing.
• Foster the imagination and creativity of the child.
